Discipline

"This is going to hurt me more than it will hurt you!" the father said before delivering a swat to his naughty son's behind.

I wonder how many kids, when they've heard those words, thought to themselves "Well then, DON'T DO IT AND SAVE US BOTH SOME PAIN!" I know I did when that spanking came.

How Do I Deal With My Child's Failure?

Kids don't like to do things they are told they are not good at. If my son drops the ball that costs the team the game and the other kids give him a hard time because of it, he wants to quit the team. If my daughter gets bad grades at school, she says that school is dumb and she doesn't want to go. It is hard to watch kids get frustrated when they fail.

As a parent I want to encourage my child. I want them to understand that we all fall at one time or another. I want them to have the courage to get back up and do their best. This is a lesson taught well in the Bible.

I need a break!

Once the kids are born the time demands never seem to end. It starts with the 3 am feeding. Next we have teething and earaches. We run the daily rat race from home to daycare to work to daycare to home to bed. And that's a slow day without tee-ball, soccer or dance class! My life revolves around my children. I don't have any time to myself.

Do you feel this way? Have your family concerns and obligations sapped your strength? Take heart, you are not alone!
